Back in September of ’08 we had a little blow down here called Ike. It seems Katrina still gets most of the press so if you don’t remember, I understand.
Ike came on shore just to the east of Galveston. Putting the strongest winds and highest tides…well…at my house! Luckly the levee’s did their job for most and insurace and great neighbors helped the rest.
Why on earth would I want to bring up what was arguably one of the scariest nights of my young life, not to mention that of my trusty golden retriever who rode it out with me?
Here’s why,

Pretty close. These storms have a mind of their own though…we’ll see.
We are prepared. We know when to run and we know when to hide.
And besides, this IS the last great democratic stronghold in the state. I’m sure the Messiah, err, I mean our president would’nt let this happen to us again. We all know the first one was Bush’s fault anyway π
