Red Sky at morning, Sailor take warning
Red Sky at night, Sailor’s delight
I thinks I first heard this little ditty from Dad.
Probably on the side of some mountain somewhere, gazing at the sky. A good time to pass on those bits of wisdom fathers often pass on to their impressionable youngsters.
Well, I’m looking at a red sky this morning. Rain is imminent. Of course I could just look up the hyper-sensitive multi color Doppler radar on wunderground.com, but who needs that. It’s gonna rain. Red Sky at Morning.
Lets be clear, I’m no sailor. I do live on the coast and I have owned several boats and watercraft of all shapes and sizes. But now, I spend my free time on dry ground and two wheels. A boat is after all a hole in the water you pour money into. Trust me on that one. The real issues is this. Today is the first day in weeks I actually don’t feel like crap! Fall type allergies have taken their toll on me recently. A bike ride should be in order…Red Sky at Morning…
Perhaps a fish fry on the patio instead. Out of the impending rain. My brother in law, who still has boats, is keeping us stocked with crappie. It would be rude not to fry some up. He did go to all that trouble with a boat and all.

Very nice piece. Hope the improvement in your recent bout with the semi terminal crud continues and you are truly healed. There is no sky to color here and I got rained on as I hung out the Squirrel Buster feeder and the suet and brought in a few sticks from the woodshed. Sorry about the weather preventing a ride. But the fried fish on the porch doesn’t sound to much like a fall back idea to me. As a matter of fact, a little fried catfish and potato salad and cold beer doesn’t sound too bad for a rainy Sunday supper in the Maine woods.
