Reporters with out Borders recently published their freedom index for 2014. The good old U.S.A. didn’t fair so well.
Number 46, down 13 spots from 2012, just ahead of Haiti. Thank God.
Where is the outrage? Nothing from the “media”?
According to the report, here is where we fail:
— Pluralism, meaning the representation of different views in the media; — Independence of the media vis-à-vis political, economic, religious and military centres of power; — Quality of the legislation governing the media; — Transparency of the bodies regulating the media; — Performance of the infrastructure supporting the media; — Overall climate for freedom of information.
I guess as long as they tow the line for the regime their silence will be bought and paid for.
