Welcome to"The Season"

Well,
as you can see from the time stamp, it’s not even September and we have them lined up like Ducks crossing a pond.
This really isn’t a surprise, this time of year on the Gulf Coast we expect the storms. The hype from the weather droids on T.V. gets a little old though.
All week the media has been reporting on the five year anniversary of Katrina. A devastating storm on a wonderful city to be sure.
On the third coast Katrina had a different impact. The evacuee’s. There were great people, brave and caring. and there were those that were not.
And then there was that other issue— Rita.

Don’t feel bad if you don’t remember. The national media doesn’t either. Two weeks after Katrina came on shore Rita followed. The storms were eerily similar with one exception. Rita hit here.
People evacuated (the largest evacuation in the history of the U.S.) And when they returned, they started to rebuild and clean up.Maybe it was easier for us. We didn’t have F.E.M.A. the Media and the Movie Stars in the way.
Many of us lost a Lot, some lost everything, everyone felt the impact.
So in two weeks there will be another anniversary of sorts. I’m sure CNN won’t spend much time on it. But around here the locals will chat together, compare stories of damage, survival and THAT evacuation. There is little if any sign of the storm left. What was destroyed has been replaced or repaired or nature has taken back.
Maybe it’s a Texas thing. That pioneer spirit. Neighbor helping neighbor.
Or maybe were just lucky to live on this third coast in this – greatest State… or maybe we’re just a little bull headed, but i doubt that.
