"Those who can’t formulate a coherent argument in our society’s marketplace of ideas often resort to childish, even offensive tactics.”
A truer statement I do not think I have ever read. I just wish I had come up with it.
Our government, and the Media, have for a while now, resorted to the politics of personal destruction. If they can not base an argument on facts, the name calling begins. This isn’t new, I remember similar circumstances as a sophomore in High School.
Sitting around the ‘”camp fire” and singing Kum Ba Ya isn’t really the answer either. People are different. How we think our government (local or otherwise) should be run varies. That is what used to be great about this place. A diversity of ideas. Now all the so called Progressive/Open Minded types are only progressive and open minded when you agree with them. Got a different view point…you’re a (fill in the blank) .
Why can’t these Yahoo’s just get over it. Governance should strive for the best end result. Good intentions alone never put anyone to work or protected their Liberties. Instead we are governed by Folks who speak in sound bites with rhetoric aimed at firing up whomever they want support ($) from.
Honestly the whole charade is just disgusting. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not threatening to leave a.k.a. Ed Asner/Barbra Streisand , I’m sticking around, voting my conscience, supporting the few real Legislators that tough it out, doing my part. Like we all should do… whether we agree on an issue or not.
There I feel better now. A good rant is liberating
