Day one started about noon.
Took the back roads to Center, Tx. Hwy 87 between Burkeville and Center is some of the best riding east Texas has to offer. Good roads, sweeping curves and beautiful vistas. Got to the hotel about 5 and stepped into a local diner for a great chicken fried steak and LOTS of ice tea. Then off to the pool and some cold adult beverages. Did I mention it was HOT. 100 + on the bikes. It makes for a long hot day. Still worth it though. We both need this.
Changing plans for tomorrow, going to shoot up to Texarkana and check out the new HD dealership, catch some lunch and talk to some locals about routes to Hot Springs. We’ll see what happens. We had thought of going to Gibsland to see where Bonnie and Clyde met their end but we’ll save that for another day. I hear their still dead so there’s no big rush. Part of the plan was not to plan much…so that’s the plan.
more later…probably

My great grandparents were from Center, TX! I went there once as a kid to check out the ancestry. It is a very different side of Texas for sure. I love the plan of not really having a plan.
