A day in History

Most people don’t know that back in 1912, Hellmann’s
mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was
carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera
Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship
after its stop in New York . This would have been the largest single
shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico . But as we know, the
great ship did not make it to New York . The ship hit an iceberg and
sank, and the cargo was forever lost. The people of Mexico, who were
crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were
disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great, that they
declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observe to this
day. The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is
known, of course, as –

Sinko De Mayo.

WHAT??? You expected something educational from me? You
need a shot of Tequila.

Easter Morning

It’s a beautiful Easter Morning. A cool breeze and overcast. The local birds in the yard are loving it. The local Pastor down the street, probably not so much. Sunrise Service on a cloudy day doesn’t have the theatrical effect it’s designed to. But the faithful don’t mind. A truly faithful person doesn’t need theatrics to be close to his/her creator.

I think it was Thomas who some two thousand years ago wrote, (i’m paraphrasing to be sure), The house of the Lord is in the heart of man, not in buildings of wood and stone. If I’m wrong on this I’m sure I will soon find out, but I’m pretty sure I’ve got the intent right. I’ll bet that was close to heresy back then. Maybe even today.

I grew up in the church. Mostly small country Churches all across Texas. Three time a week, every week. More during the Holidays. I didn’t mind. It’s what I knew. It’s what I was taught to do and believe. Many if not all of those beliefs I still carry with me today. The surroundings are a bit different though. A cool quite morning, with the wind in the trees and Sparrows and BlueJays scrapping over seed; a long country road, no traffic, just me and two wheels and everything surrounding me., That’s a church of sorts .

At least those are the times I feel a closeness.    Heresy…I don’t think so.

Happy Easter

My morning Spring Schedule

A beautiful spring morning.
Some re-potting of plants is needed. Along with some bird watching around the feeders. Maybe a trip to Lowes… I’m sure there is something I need.
Un-coil..relax..maybe grill some red meat latter on..with some corn and a salad…adult beverage, yup, that might just be the ticket. Lowes,, I know there’s something I must need. Enjoy the day. Thats the plan.
Enjoy yours
