Tic Toc Tic Toc

Getting older.. it’s a funny thing.

Well maybe not. It kind of depends of your sense of humor.

I have a habit of thinking about what was this person or that person doing at this age. Einstein was well on his way to immortality. Many of our  leaders were in there first term of their presidency. John Lennon was dead. Had been for a while. It’s a strange thing to think about, I know.

I do this from time to time, comparing my place in life at this point with others I respect or love.

Let’s see, when I was 6, he were 34 and he was OLD. What did I know, I was only 6.

I remember thinking folks in there 50’s were ancient. Boy what I didn’t know. Fine, there are days I do feel ancient. But for the most part I feel and think the same as I did at say, 20, o.k. maybe 35.  The thought processes are the same. The body creeks and groans a little more but I’m pretty much the same cat I was back then.

Another year rolls along. Why even bring it up?  Past the legal drinking or drafting age, birthdays held little interest to me. A chance to go out celebrate making it one more year. Once I was “legal” what was the big deal? I honestly think your as young as your mind and your body (to a lesser extent) will allow you to be. The mind body thing for me works out to around 26/51.

One of those is my actual age.

This year a ride on the Harley would be nice. If the weather cooperates and I wake up in time. And if I feel up to it. Thank God for ibuprofen.

Have a great year… what ever year it is.

Will it Ever End

Some have said that the stimulus hasn’t saved any jobs, but here is a case where at least one job was saved.

Image001

Take for instance Oregon State University Athletic Director Bob DeCarolis.

Image002

Now Mr. DeCarolis was considering firing their Basketball Coach…….Craig Robinson.

Image003

after an 8 -11 start (2-5) in the Pac 10 conference).

When word reached Washington ,Undersecretary of Education Martha Kanter

Image004

was dispatched to Corvallis with $17 million in stimulus money for the university.

Thankfully,Craig Robinson’s job is safe for another year.

Image005

Now comes the interesting part of our story….For those of you unfamiliar with Coach Robinson,

Image006

he just so happens to be the brother in law of none other than our country’s beloved President,

Image007

NOW YOUR CATCHING ON……that’s right he is the brother of Michelle Obama!

Image008

But hey, can’t we all come to the conclusion that Coach Robinson’s job security was all just a coincidence?

I’m sure of it …. Aren’t You?

Thank Goodness For

The Stimulus!!!

Just thinking out loud

I read something today I found interesting. It was written back in 2008 by Rich Lowry in the National Review. O.K., Lowry is a Conservative as is the Review, but it brings to mind something I hear from those I know on the Left.. I mean Progressives. “we are the party of tolerance, open mindedness, fresh ideas, change.”

The second paragraph is telling and true. The “Ruling Class” does not get it. The people of the Country (Republicans and yes, Democrats too) are tired of the same old shit being shoveled out by these custodians of our freedom that sit in Congress and the White House.

While the country is in an economic flat line, unemployment is at 10%, our president goes on vacation (to Martha’s Vineyard, 4th time this year). Michelle just got back from her little jaunt to Spain, and they take a day to go the Gulf Coast to show Americans it is ok to vacation there?

“Palin-hatred is an artifact of who she is rather than anything she’s done. Joe Biden famously rose from the working class to the U.S. Senate. Palin became governor of Alaska, but never left the working class — with her old-fashioned beehive hairdo and librarian eyeglasses, with a husband who is a commercial fisherman and works on a North Shore oil field, and with her hobbies of fishing and hunting.

As such, she’s the object of the cultural disdain of a Left that loves the working class in theory, but is mystified or offended by its lifestyle and conservative values in reality. If there’s ever been an exemplar of the rural America that, in Barack Obama’s telling, “bitterly” clings to its guns and religion, it’s Sarah Palin.

It’s her misfortune to be a pioneer with the wrong ideology. So much bile was directed at Clarence Thomas because he was the “wrong” kind of black man. Pro-life, pro-gun and a down-the-line, if populist, conservative, Palin is a traitor to her gender and thus encounters the sort of fury always directed at apostates.
Rich Lowry is the editor of National Review.

I don’t have a clue if Palin will pursue any further public office or even if she should, that’s not the point.

Hypocrisy is the point. And the hypocrites seem to be in charge.

O.K. there it is. lets hear it.

104 heat index. It’s so hot- the Hurricane Supplies are starting to expand!

I know, I said I wouldn’t complain about the heat…. But our air conditioning went out this morning and this building is basically a big tin barn that soaks up the afternoon sun. 90 in the office, 115 in the warehouse.

We are next on the service call rotation. It wouldn’t be such a big deal except they were out here last week and proclaimed our system fine. He charged us… we paid the bill…. It broke.

Go figure.

A route 44 soft drink from Sonic, that would be nice.

 I wonder if they deliver?

Even the keyboard is warm…

HOT!

Hot…hot…hothothot

Did I say it was warm. I think so.

To that end here we go……You know your in Texas when:

You notice your radiator is overheating, before you start your car.

You no longer associate bridges over rivers with water.

The thermometer in the lid of your Bar-B-Que Grill shows 150 degrees F, before you light it.

You know a swamp cooler is not a happy hour drink.

You hear the weather forecast for 105 degrees without flinching.

You discover, in July it only takes two fingers to drive your car, because your steering wheel is so hot.

You can make instant sun tea or sun tea instantly.

You run the house a/c in the middle of winter, so you can use your fireplace.

The best parking is determined by shade ….. not distance.

Hotter water comes from the cold water tap than the hot one.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

Sunscreen is sold year round, it is always kept right at the checkout counter.

Sunscreen with less than 50 SPF is called ‘hand cream.’

You put on fresh sunscreen just to go check the mail box.
